How is overtime paid in Panama?
The Labor Code establishes specific surcharges for overtime, depending on when the hours are worked.
25% Surcharge (Daytime)
Applies to overtime worked during the daytime period (6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.).
50% Surcharge (Nighttime)
Applies to overtime worked during the nighttime period (6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.).
75% Surcharge
Additional surcharge for hours worked in excess of the legal limits, or nighttime overtime for an employee whose regular shift is already nighttime.
Holidays (150%)
Working on a national holiday requires a 150% surcharge over the regular wage.
